UPDATE: RCMP find Kelowna senior's vehicle, man still missing

(UPDATE: April 23 @ 2:30 pm ) – The Kelowna RCMP have confirmed that they have located the vehicle belonging to the “high risk” missing 79-year-old man who was reported missing earlier this week.

The truck was located in the Beaver Lake Road and Dee Lake Road area, which is located in the backcountry east of Lake Country.

Shortly after noon, Kane Blake with the Okanagan Forest Task Force said on Facebook that he and his group had located a vehicle matching the description of Alan Francescutti’s newer model black Dodge truck around 11 am on Tuesday.

“The RCMP have been notified and we will do what we can to assist (...) if the rcmp and (Central Okanagan Search and Rescue) want help they will let us know,” Blake said in the post.

Shortly after 2 pm, the RCMP said they are asking people to stay out of the area while officers and COSAR search the area to try and locate the man, who was no with his vehicle.

“It is important that people don’t saturate the area and interfere with our initial search,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier Media Relations Unit. 

“We have several resources right now looking for the missing man, including air services, PDS, drones and Search and Rescue.”

(UPDATE: April 23 @ 12:45 pm) – The Kelowna RCMP have provided more information and clarity about a senior that was reported missing Monday morning.

The RCMP did not provide a name or pictures of the senior when the original news release was issued earlier this week, however, that has all been provided Tuesday morning after NowMedia requested those details via email.

Alan Francescutti, 79, has not been seen since April 16 after he was last seen leaving the Lower Mission area in his truck.

According to the news release from the RCMP, Francescutti has a medical condition and is believed to have traveled to the Mabel Lake and Shuswap Falls area as recently as April 12.

Francescutti’s picture is also being shared publicly to help track him down.

He is described as:


He is believed to have been wearing a black leather jacket, blue shirt and black pants.

His truck is described as a black/dark blue 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 Classic quad cab with Warlock trim package, front and rear mud flaps and bearing BC license plate 8847BH.

The RCMP say in the news release that it has a tonneau cover as well as a chrome ram head ornament mounted on the dash of the vehicle.

Anyone who may have seen Francescutti or his vehicle is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP or their nearest RCMP Detachment. If you call the Kelowna RCMP, police ask that you refer to file 2024-19989.

(Original story: April 22 @ 5:15 am) – Mounties in Kelowna are searching for an 80-year-old man who has been missing since last week.

The RCMP did not provide the man’s name at the family’s request.

No photograph of the man has been released.

Police said he was last seen on Tuesday, April 16.

His family told the RCMP it is “extremely concerning” that he’s been out of touch for so long.
