Temporary Tattoos: Summer's Best Accessory

Over the past few weeks temporary tattoos have started popping up on my Pinterest feed more and more frequently. They are apparently making a comeback and are being used as more serious additions to fashionable outfits, rather than just for costume purposes or kids birthday parties. At first I was not convinced by this trend, probably because the last time I put on temporary tattoos was for a spice girls themed birthday party when I was 10. I wanted to be sporty spice and needed the classic 90's arm band tattoo.  But the idea of wearing temporary tattoos as part of a fashion statement has started growing on me, and here's why:

- The options that are now available for temporary tattoos are far superior to those available in the 90s. Instead of your classic ship's anchor or skull and crossbones, you can now get beautiful floral designs or your favourite quote.

- They're really just another way of accessorizing. Instead of wearing a bracelet, you can show off a pretty design on the inside of your wrist for a couple of days.

- Like any other kind of accessory, you can go with something really loud and attention grabbing, or try out something more subtle to enhance your look.

- You can switch between different styles of tattoos and co-ordinate them with different styles of outfits.

- They're generally pretty cheap, so you can try out a few different styles of tattoos without breaking the bank.

- Because they require far less commitment than a real tattoo, you can use them to test out ideas for real tattoos that you might like to get.

Despite feeling a little juvenile, I'm starting to find temporary tattoos a very intriguing way to add a little something extra to your outfit.   Below are a few of my favourite modern versions of temporary tattoos.

Metallic tattoos from Moorea Seal

Floral tattoos from Pepper Ink (Find them on Etsy)

Fern tattoos from The Aviary (Find them on Etsy)

Quote tattoos from Moss and Fern Design Co. (Find them on Etsy)
