Having been the launch pad for incredible bands like the Grapes of Wrath and Yukon Blonde,  Kelowna has deep musical roots giving many musicians the support system needed to bloom.

Even if you're not well-versed in Kelowna’s bursting roaster of local bands, anyone who's visited downtown on the weekends can hear the abundance of incredible performers.

This year there are a few bands who have shone brighter than any spotlight in your eyes, making their way to the top three of Best of Kelowna, so without further ado here they are!

The Wild!

Having supported acts like Rose Tattoo and Steel Panther, and plotting their first headlining European tour these Rock n’ Roll ruffians are well on their way to being Kelowna’s next dazzling stars and keeping the flame of rock burning bright.

Despite their seemingly rapid success and busy schedule, these four wild boys are still humble at heart and adore nothing more than playing for a hometown crowd, making each show, no matter the size, seem like the biggest of their career, giving it their all.

Raunchy riffs, Bon Scott-like vocals, and exuberant energy it wouldn’t be far fetched to hail these guys as Canada’s own new age AC/DC.

Tiger Moon

Even if you’re new to the Okanagan it doesn’t take long before you hear about the maple syrup soaked harmonies provided by this dynamic duo.

Breathing new life into traditional folk music, Tiger Moon has a sound all their own, as they mix and melt elements from bluegrass, rock and Canadiana.

The best part about them? Arguably, the juxtaposition. Between the grizzly vocals of Dan Tait with his guitar and songbird Kasey Graf on mandolin, they can go from raising one hell of a party with their whiskey-drenched tales, to having lighters raised and fans swaying in time entranced by their chemistry.

Ben Klick

Ben Klick has been playing music in Kelowna since he was a teen, and our community has been lucky enough to watch him grow into the performer he is today. Working hard to be more than just a household name here in the Okanagan, Klick records in Nashville, Tennessee, and is working on his legacy (pun intended) as a country star.

With all the fixings to be Canada’s next Dean Brody, He has already had three singles blow through our airwaves, numerous awards and has even opened for superstar acts like Tanya Tucker, Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith.

Klick not only writes heartfelt, passionate lyrics, but is a true performer to boot. His ability to slide and shred a guitar solo is something that may surprise those who have not had the chance to meet the bubbly Ben in person.

You can catch all three of these Okanagan acts during October’s Breakout West Festival right here in Kelowna. Click here to see when and where!
