Aran Cook set a new Knox Mountain Hill Climb record this past weekend, ripping up the winding mountain road in a time of one minute and 34 seconds.
The previous record of one minute and 37 seconds was set by John Haftner in 2007 and remained the benchmark for 16 years.
Cook broke the record on Saturday, finishing with a time of one minute and 36 seconds, but was not done there. He hit speeds of 190 km/hr on Sunday and broke his previous record by two full seconds.
He drove his Arco X10 car as he showed the competition and drivers the fastest times the hill climb has ever seen.
The Knox Mountain Hill Climb is an annual event that takes place at Knox Mountain Park every May long weekend and attracts spectators and drivers from across the country.
Drivers compete in different models of vehicles up the 3.5 kilometre steep and winding course that has an elevation gain of 800 feet.
