Mod Salon Inc. takes the gold again.

For the third year in a row, Mod Salon Inc. has earned the top spot for Beauty Salon in the Best of Kelowna 2023 competition.

Connie and Kirby Hill, who have backgrounds in the beauty and financial service industries, respectively, became the new owners of the well-loved salon in March 2023.

“We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to invest in what we thought were Kelowna’s top boutique beauty salons,” Connie explains. “We are so happy and thankful that our valued guests who voted for Best of Kelowna 2023 further confirmed this.”

Mod Salon Inc. has two beautiful salon locations with a great selection of luxury beauty offerings, but their employees make the biggest impression.

“We want our Mod workplace culture to be rooted in professionalism, expertise and exceptional service, but we also need to have fun along the way,” Connie says. “Happy employees will only help pay it forward to our salon guests, and our highly trained stylists are current on all the latest trends and have completed some of the best training programs in the industry.”

Connie and Kirby are also excited about owning a local business because it provides more opportunities to give back.

“It’s important for us to get involved in the community,” Connie explains. “We support local whenever we can.”

Since taking ownership, the married couple has prioritized learning from their employees and guests about what they appreciate most about Mod, and also what could be improved. Their goal is to reach new heights by amplifying the value of Mod’s luxury beauty services and products with a focus on quality, accessibility and guest experiences. Mod currently offers a full selection of exclusive Oribe and Davines brands and is looking to expand its product line.

While Mod has had its location in the heart of Pandosy Street for many years, its fully renovated location in the historic “Surtees” farmhouse on Lakeshore Drive is much more recent. It’s the original house to the barn in Kelowna’s Lower Mission that is now home to Barn Owl Brewing Co. The services at the Lakeshore location will soon be expanded to include high-end barbering and specialized men’s products, which will feature hot shaves that can be served up with an ice-cold refreshment courtesy of Mod’s liquor license, which is yet another thing that sets them apart from their competitors.

Connie and Kirby, along with their two sons, Parker and Jamin, moved from Edmonton to Kelowna in 2019 to be closer to family and embrace all that the Okanagan lifestyle has to offer.

“We love Kelowna,” Kirby says. “It’s an amazing place to live and we’re excited to do our part as local business owners to make the community an even better place to live, work and play.”

The couple looks forward to meeting, welcoming and thanking all of Mod’s past and future guests as they continue their journey to grow and further solidify Mod’s reputation for offering Kelowna’s best beauty salon experiences.

Connie adds: “We strive to make people feel beautiful, both inside and out.”

Mod Salon Inc. is located at 102-2900 Pandosy St. and 4649 Lakeshore Dr.
