Silver - La Bussola Restaurant
La Bussola Restaurant is your go-to if you’re looking for a fine-dining experience downtown.
Located in the heart of the cultural district on Ellis St, this restaurant is known for its high-quality, fresh and authentic offerings.
And because any meal at an Italian restaurant is incomplete without a glass of excellent wine, their knowledgeable sommelier will help you pick out the perfect wine to pair with your meal from their extensive wine list.
The atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant – it’s the perfect spot for an upscale affair.
You’re in for a treat when you order one of the pasta dishes because they use chef and owner Lauretta Coccaro’s sauce recipe, and the taste is unbeatable.
Some of the more popular dishes here include Chicken Parm, Raw Oysters and Spaghetti Ai Funghi with a tasty meat sauce.

Gold - Mamma Rosa Restaurant
Our gold medal winner does things a little differently than your typical West Coast Italian restaurant. Mamma Rosa specializes in the art of handcrafted pasta and Italian food, so their pasta and bread are made fresh daily.
The aromas will entice you and the flavours and fresh ingredients will make you want to come back for more.
Their menu is extensive and showcases a variety of fresh pasta made from 100% Durum Semolina alongside a large selection of handcrafted and intriguing sauces. They also use true Italian products imported from Italy including handmade Mozza (Burratta) made in Puglia, prosciutto di parma and parmigiana reggiano.
If you want a true taste of Italy, try out the Fettuccini Alfredo, Lasagne Bolognese, Gnocci Capriccio or any of their pasta dishes that are all served with their homemade sauce.
