There is an unending amount of fun to be had in and around Kelowna, especially in the summer when the Okanagan really comes to life.

Whether you’re a visitor or a long time local, there are some attractions that everyone looks forward to when the season begins.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than getting out of town for a day, even with a city as beautiful as Kelowna.

So what are the favourites for quick trips outside the City? Here are your top picks from Best of Kelowna 2018.

Kangaroo Creek Farm

If you’ve never cradled a joey in your arms before, you’re missing out.

Kangaroo Creek Farm, located in Lake Country, is home to a plethora of fascinating creatures from sugar gliders and capybaras, to wallabies and peacocks.

Staff members will teach you how to respectfully get close to the animals. You can hold a parrot on your arm, feel the soft fur of a red kangaroo, and feed those interesting capybara guys some corn husks.

The ability to experience these animals up close and personal  must be why Kelowna voted this business as number one attraction outside the city.

The farm is planning on making a move closer to Kelowna in the future. For more on that, click here!

Starlight Drive-in Theatre

There’s no better way to spend a summer evening than under the stars, bundled up with a movie and some of your best friends.

The Starlight Drive-in Theatre in Enderby is another local favourite that we all flock to in the summertime.

It’s like going to see a flick at the theatre, but without strangers kicking your seat and with lots of fresh air and stunning sunsets.

Myra Canyon Trestles

A popular nearby place to hike, bike, and get back in tune with nature, it’s not surprising that Kelowna voted the Myra Canyon Trestles as their third choice for fun outside city limits.

On top of fresh air, stress melting exercise, and peaceful silence, this spot also offers up some breathtaking vistas. There are two tunnels and 18 trestle bridges to take all that beauty in from.

A quick 40 minute drive from downtown Kelowna will also give you a good appreciation of the stunning wineries, orchards, vineyards, and landscape that the Okanagan is known for.

These are just three of Kelowna’s favourites this year. Some other great nominees in this category this year included Big White Ski Resort, O’Keefe Ranch, Sparkling Hill Resort and Spa, Oyama Zipline Forest Adventure, Safari Ridge Adventure Park, and Tickleberry’s Ice Cream.
