While the Okanagan Valley is known as wine country, the rising popularity of craft breweries has made them a worthy rival.

Kelowna has no shortage of delicious craft breweries all across town, and with their taps constantly changing there is always something fresh to try. People love finding their new favourite brew to enjoy while bonding with friends and family.

Wondering where you can grab the best craft beer in town? Check out our list of the best breweries in the city, as voted by you and brought to you by Secure-Rite Mobile Storage.

Bronze - BNA Brewing Co.

Beer and bowling – can you name a better way to spend a weekend evening with your friends?

BNA Brewing has become a staple of the downtown area because of its laid-back atmosphere, tasty drinks and yummy food.

The motto over at BNA is simple, “Life really isn't that serious. We make it hard. The sun rises. The sun sets. Don't complicate it. Have a beer.” And we agree.

Kick back, relax and enjoy one of their beers, brewed on-site while you catch up with your friends.

The rustic interior will make you feel right at home while you enjoy one of their lagers, IPAs, stouts or pale ales.

You can grab some grub to share with your table, such as some BBQ Chicken Wonton Nachos, Gobi Pakora or Zucchini Fries. Or order a plate for yourself like a Brisket Sub, Yaki Udon or Buffalo Cauliflower Pizza.

To see what all the hype is about, visit them on 1250 Ellis St.

Silver - Red Bird Brewing

Red Bird Brewing would like to welcome you to your new backyard. Featuring locally brewed beer, live music, wood-fired pizza and outdoor lounging, it’s the ultimate way to spend a summer evening.

This brewery is community-driven, and that guides every decision they make – from having no TVs on the walls, to keeping the volume of the music low, to making sure the tap list is diverse so regulars always have something new to indulge in, Red Bird Brewing is your go-to for that at-home feeling.

The staff are kind and the big community tables make for striking up a great conversation with a stranger.

Okay, now onto the important part – the beer!

Their flavourful core beers include the Antipsipation IPA, Lady of The Lake Lager, The Tomb Stout, Paramount Porter, The Captain Kölsch and so many more

Make sure you stop by because the brewery updates its tap list every week!

You can find this home-away-from-home at 1080 Richter St.

Gold - Barn Owl Brewing

Coming in first is none other than Barn Owl Brewing!

This unique brewery is set in a 1921 heritage barn, so you know you’re about to get into some one-of-a-kind brews.

The story goes that after touring the historic Surtees Barn and admiring its charm, three guys with a love of craft beer and bringing people together decided to form the company, and the rest is history.

Their brewing process not only allows them to craft a variety of beers in a small space but also contributes to environmental sustainability by using less water, chemicals and energy.

So what’s on tap?

The Mission Kriek Cherry Sour, named after their location which is between the lovely Mission Creek and a cherry farm, the Breaking Bread Amber Ale, which is made from leftover bread to add character and bring down their food waste footprint (a dollar from every pint is also donated to the foodbank!), the Lakeshore Lager “Made for thirsty drinkers that are coming to knock a couple back after biking half of Kelowna to get to the barn” and so many more that can be viewed here

Visit the barn and throw back a couple of drinks at 102 – 4629 Lakeshore Rd.
