About Sheni

Hi! My name is Sheni and I’m cute as a button!

I’m told i’m very sweet and a very pretty pup! I’m a Labrador and Australian shepherd mix.

You might not guess it from my sunny disposition, but I am a victim of animal cruelty in my home country in the Middle East. My rescuers found me with a thick rope around my neck being dragged by a car along a road. The rope cut my neck badly and i had to have surgery. They fixed up my external injuries, but it was discovered that my spine was also damaged and I will never be able to fully use my legs again.

However I am on the mend and I make everyone fall hopelessly in love with me at the rehab clinic!

Age

10 months old

Personality

Fortunately for me, I have arrived in Canada and been placed in a wonderful foster home. My new foster mom says I am “amazing”. I think that means she likes me! Here’s some more nice things she has  said about me:

“Sheni continues to wow everyone with her gentle, loving nature - she simply draws people to her.”

I must be doing something right because everybody here wants to pet me, and when I had my assessment at the rehab clinic all the staff fell in love with me.

We have learned I have quite a bit of strength in one of my back legs. The problem is that the muscles have tightened into a bent position, so part of my therapy involves lots of cuddles and massages!

Suitability

My foster mom thinks it is important to share everything she is learning about me so that my future family is fully informed so here’s a quote directly from her:

“It has now become apparent that although Sheni can indeed hold her pee. She has no sensation of when she needs to go, and therefore once her bladder is full, she overflows.”

“The solution has been to help her empty her bladder (express her) on a schedule in order to avoid the overflow accidents. I only diaper her occasionally, and we do seem to be managing her incontinence much better. I will keep everyone informed - but it is something her potential adopters need to be aware of.”

“In every other way, Sheni is your typical 10 month old puppy - full of life, sweet, adorable, and always getting into mischief (often with her sidekick Teddy!)  She is incredibly good around people, and seems very well socialized around other dogs as well - occasionally barks at a new dog that she hasn’t yet met - but very easy to manage and a joy to be with.”

‘She loves to retrieve balls, sticks, and other objects, and also likes to organize her dog toys (her favorite game is to take a toy from another dog and scoot off to hide it.  Then she returns to the scene of the crime, as though nothing has happened!) Sheni doesn’t seem to mind being alone for short periods of time, and she continues to adore her car rides. She loves being outdoors, but most of all wants to be with “her people” as one would expect.”

I really hope my forever mom or dad is reading this and getting ready to bring me to my forever home.  When that happens I promise I will do my utmost to fill your heart with as much happiness as I have in mine!

I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and my adoption fee is $350 CAD.
