Description:

When you live in such a beautiful area, such as B.C., it's easy to find places to explore all over! If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island, Little Qualicum Falls is a must see! With easy access and known to be a favorite destination on the Island, you have to check this place out for yourself!

From the day parking area, the trail is easy to follow and well maintained. There are signs pointing in either direction to the Upper and Lower Falls. It really doesn't matter which way you head out to start, as the trail loops around.

If you head left to the Upper Falls, the trail follows high above the Little Qualicum River. This magical walking path leads you to a viewpoint of the canyon and towards the Upper Falls. From there, the trail crosses the river above the Upper Falls to the final viewpoint. As the Little Qualicum River comes towering down the rocky canyon, it creates two beautiful cascading waterfalls at the Upper Falls.

The trail continues to meander through the lush green forest, shaded by large Douglas Fir and lined with moss and ferns. Soon the Lower Falls will be in sight. After enjoying the views, carry on along the trail as it crosses another bridge over the river to get back to the parking area.

Depending on the time of year, you may even find a perfect swimming hole (when waters are low).

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park was established in 1940 and consists of 440 hectares. Containing Little Qualicum River and the southern shores of Cameron Lake, there's a little something for everyone! Check out one of the 96 camping sites, spend the day hiking, chasing waterfalls, canoeing, swimming or fishing.

Remember to always be mindful of your surroundings, pack out what you pack in, stick to the trails and Happy Exploring!
