Norman’s Diner has opened at #110 - 235 Hollywood Road North in Rutland on the main level of the new development in the Willow Park Shopping Centre. Owned and operated by Anne Stewart and her father Campbell Stewart,  Norman’s has quite the history in the valley. The diner was named after Anne’s grandfather Norm, on her dad’s side, who passed away about 10 years ago. Anne’s father, Campbell Stewart and Anne purchased Diner on Six in Vernon a number of years ago. In 2019 they built Norman’s Diner in Lake Country and now have their third operation in Rutland. The Rutland location enjoys some additional features that they do not have in Lake Country, including a 30-seat pet friendly patio, a specialty coffee menu complete with espresso, cold brew and beer on tap. They have an increased capacity in the Rutland location with the ability to host large groups. Norman’s Diner serves all day breakfast and lunch from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. They offer homestyle dining fare with favourites of breakfast poutine and crab cake benny. I sampled the spinach, mushroom, chorizo sausage, green onions and cheese omelette with home-made hashbrowns. It was delicious and a generous portion. The diner is fully licensed from 9:00 a.m. onwards and offers a kids menu. Daphne Reynolds, who has been in the restaurant industry for many years is the general manager of Norman’s Diner. www.normansdiner.com

Kudos to the Coast Capri Hotel’s 23rd Annual Tiny Tim Breakfast held this holiday season. 650 adults and children joined them for breakfast in support of the Salvation Army. 1,500 toys and $3,457 in cash donations was raised for distribution by the Salvation Army.

Recognizing the challenging times marked by soaring food costs and inflation that has run higher than any time in recent memory, DKL Financial Group in its 29th year in business has given back to the community to support an important cause of food security in the valley. They have donated a sizeable $5,000.00 to the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank. In preceding years, the food bank assisted approximately 3,000 individuals monthly and in November of this year, the number surged to a whopping 8,392 individuals and families. This underscores the escalating demand for charitable contributions, whether in the form of food or capital donations. Every dollar donated enables the purchase of $3.00 worth of food. Remember, the food bank needs our help all year-round, not only during the holiday season. DKL is challenging other financial groups to give back to the food bank to help their operations all year round. Dale Lamb is the president and CEO of DKL Financial and Matthew Williams and Christian Santos are Senior Associate Advisors. www.dklfinancialgroup.ca
