Brent Stewart, former owner of Wings Restaurant in Rutland and West Kelowna has decided that one day of retirement was not working for him after the sale of the restaurants. He has now joined the team at Specialty Bakery at 833 Finns Road with owner /operator Brent Browne. Brent has returned to his roots as he was formerly the Bistro manager at Specialty Bakery for two years, several years ago. As the Bistro manager, Brent will be responsible for developing menus, preparing meals, and supervising the kitchen to ensure that the food is prepared to the highest quality standards. If you have never tasted Brent’s Boston Clam Chowder on a Friday, you are really missing out. It is probably one of the best in the city and Brent is now preparing double what he usually makes on a Friday, as it is becoming so popular. Everything in the bistro is house-made and it’s a great place to catch breakfast or lunch, with breakfast served all day. Brent has revamped the open kitchen with Tia Bleackley, who formerly worked at Barb’s Delight Restaurant for many years and is well-known and well-liked in the industry. In addition, Specialty Bakery, along with Brent’s culinary expertise is developing a specialty pie program, creating savory, fruit and pizza pies that are designed for take-out for breakfast, lunch and dinner to make your home meal planning easy. Flavors are beef, chicken, steak and mushroom, Guinness pot pie and Cornish Pasties (hand-held). Watch for their French Canadian Tourtiere’s (Meat pies) to come soon. Do not forget to pick up your hot cross buns that are made fresh daily from now until Easter. The Bistro is open Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
