Recent inductions to the lineup include: the Edmonton, Alberta, 5 piece band, Breaking the Silent which features a powerful female vocalist and songstress.
Life Like Fire from Calgary, Alberta, and Massive Scar Era, the band which was recently denied entry into the U.S. while on their way to perform at SXSW.
This outdoor, Canada Day weekend metal fest is shaping up to be any metal lovers nirvana with this killer line-up.
(Original Story: March 13th) - Let's be honest, the heavy metal scene hasn't always been equal, but one B.C. music festival is aiming to change that.
Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of beautiful Valemount, B.C. resides the home of METALOCALYPSTICK Fest, a heavy metal music festival that revolves around celebrating the influence of women in the genre.
That's right, this weekend-long festival showcases and celebrates the metal bands that feature female influencers.
The festival is still in its adolescence, as it was only created in 2016 by Kaija Kinney after noticing a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to.
“This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing,” said Kinney.
Returning for its sophomore year, METALOCALYPSTICK has announced their first bout of artists for 2017, and it’s promising to be just as heavy as it is empowering.
So far the bands set to take the stage include: Tessitura, Körperlose Stimme, Meteor Tree, Scythia, Hedks, Forsaken Rite, and Remnants.
All bands include female influencers and members. From singers and guitarists to drummers and accordion players, these women are crashing right through the glass ceiling and creating some jaw-dropping, mosh-worthy music alongside their musical comrades.
This game-changer of a festival takes place Canada Day weekend, and will feature over 18 bands. It is family friendly, offers camping options and even mini golf. What could be better?
Tickets are available online and are $85 for 3 nights of camping and admission.
