Rockets Roll Over Winterhawks 5-0 in First of Two In Portland

The Kelowna Rockets won the first game of the double header against the Portland Winterhawks in decisive fashion. Jackson Whistle stopped all 29 shots by Portland to record his 3rd shutout of the season and 6th of his WHL career.

Whistle was named the game's first star and Austin Glover received 2nd star honours for his three point performance.


Rourke Chartier started the Rockets off 51 seconds in banging in a rebound from the stick of Madison Bowey. Justin Kirkland scored his 6th of the season to end the first 2-0 for the Rockets. That was Glover's first assist. The next two for him came in the second and third period. Cole Linaker with his 3rd of the season in the second and Tyson Baillie with his 11th in the third. 


Chartier would bookend the Rockets 5-0 performance with his 11th of the season just past the midway point in the third.

The Rockets are now 13-1-0-0 on the year and will face the Winterhawks three more times this season with game two against them coming Saturday night in Portland. The Winterhawks are located in the basement of the Western Conference with a 5-10-0-2 record which ties them with the Vancouver Giants who also sit with 12 points at the bottom. The Rockets will face the Giants on Sunday night in Vancouver.
