Halftime Show Headliner Announced for Super Bowl XLIX

The NFL has announced the headliner for the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show and it will indeed be Katy Perry.

Rumors had been swirling for some time now that the pop star would headline the show. The announcement was made Sunday evening while the singer was in Australia on her Prismatic World Tour. The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is the most-watched musical event of the year. More than 115 million viewers in the U.S. watched last season's show. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide.

Perry joins a long list of singers who have performed at the Halftime Show including Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Madonna, Prince, The Rolling Stones and U2. The Super Bowl will take place February 1st, 2015 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
