QB Gelato, located in the Landmark Buildings, opened their doors last Saturday, welcoming a horde of locals anxious to try some of their incredible creations. The lineup was out the door right away, and with one taste of their gelato, it's easy to see why.

I first heard about QB when I attended the Okanagan Eats Food Show, and QB was sampling a few of their flavours at their booth. With one taste of their Cheesecake Gelato, it was obvious to me that these guys were a force to be reckoned with.

We tried their Chocolate Sorbet (vegan, and with intense chocolate flavour), and Berry Rhubarb Gelato (made with local fruit), and knew that we'd be instant regulars when QB opened in June. Their gelato has a rich, smooth texture that's unlike any ice cream you've ever had, and the flavours are bright, bold and authentic. This was the best gelato I'd ever had (no exaggeration), even compared to gelato I've tried all over Europe.

The quality of their gelato is no accident as owners, Kevin and Victor, actually attended Gelato University in Bologna, Italy. Through years of study there, they learned to marry their passion for gelato with the science that goes along with it. When I asked them if gelato-making was more science or more art, Kevin and Victor agreed that it's actually more science: it takes a lot of math to create the proper ratio of ingredients (and other factors) to really create a perfect batch. Of course, the art component plays a huge part in gelato-making too, how else could they come up with exotic flavours like Salted Coconut and Mango Sorbet, or Green Goddess Fior de Latte with Pistachio?

Upon stepping into their beautiful new space in the Landmark Buildings, you'll be eager to try any of the flavours up on the exciting menu board. Peaches and Marscapone, PB&J, Milk + Cookies or Orange Blossom Yogurt with Pomegranate are just a few of the fun combinations available. Some flavours you know and love, and some you'll only find at QB. If you can't decide on a flavour, the amazing staff won't even guilt-trip you if you want to taste more then one. You'll also love watching them make the gelato through the open-concept kitchen!

They're an instant favourite in town, and they'll be the place to #treatyoself all summer. Go see for yourself what everyone's talking about!
