Tix link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/josh-bex-w-special-guest-brent-tyler-tickets-77195187885 Josh + Bex Josh + Bex are a Canadian Dream Folk duo out of Kelowna BC. Josh, with his Eastern soul-folk vibes and Bex, her melody-driven West Coast influence, together they make music that captures their vulnerabilities and draws listeners into their world with a deeply-rooted transparency and heart-forward presence. Josh + Bex won the ‘’Inside the Festival’’, emerging new artist contest in 2019 where they performed at the internationally acclaimed Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival. Their sound is a unique blend of their individual histories and personal truths along the way to figuring out who they are as people, as well as song-writers. With their spellbinding harmonies and sophisticated yet rustic sound, they bear a resemblance to similar minded acts such as The Civil Wars, Ocie Elliot, Angus & Julia Stone, and Johnny Cash & June Carter...but with a little Fleetwood Mac and Tim Burton mixed in. Their melodies and lyrics meet at the intersection of hope and sorrow – giving space to let their songs explore light, love, pain, and the great wonders of Mother Earth. Josh + Bex will be releasing their first EP in October 2019. Brent Tyler Brent Tyler has an intricate and skillful guitar style combined with a disarming and soulful voice befit of his literal seven-foot stature. He balances the soft subtlety of honest and introspective folk music with catchy and powerful soul-roots hooks and melodies born of his childhood influences and contemporary crushes. A Calgary, Alberta native, Tyler grew up between two contrasting worlds of sport and music. His physical size made him an obvious choice for the University of Calgary basketball team, but his genuine heart beckoned him down a path of music performance. Self-taught from the age of 9 years old, Tyler's percussive guitar style was influenced heavily by the likes of James Taylor, Martin Sexton, and Dave Matthews. With a voice that bellows the foundation, yet dynamically delicate and sincere, Tyler's blend of guitar and voice sounds like a whole band. Tyler's giant delivery has evolved from imitative influence into his very own versatile, powerful, and dynamic style, drawing people in with his physical stage presence, story-telling ability, and surprisingly elastic vocal range. Looking to connect the dots with reciprocal energy in his performance, Tyler's music is lyrically textured with real life. Honesty and love, hope and healing, authenticity and forgiveness.
