2019-09-21 10:00:00 2019-09-21 23:00:00 America/Vancouver Womens Only Self-Defence To celebrate Pacific Top Team's Grand Opening and 10th Year Anniversary we are offering a FREE Women's Only Self-Defence Workshop. *Please note that this workshop is the exact same time as the Kids Anti-Bully Workshop, AKA free childcare!* Sarah Draht takes great pride in the experience behind her instruction. Everything she teaches has been tried and tested in real life situations in the street, and in professional situations on the mats. She has worked as a female security guard at Roses Waterfront Pub downtown, and has competed and won at the largest tournaments in the world for Jiu-Jitsu. She is incredibly excited to share her knowledge and empower women with a new set of skills and self-confidence. No experience required! Message from Sarah herself: "When I teach Self-Defence Workshops I teach what works, explain why it works, and as I teach the techniques to the students they learn how it works. I have been training for over 12 years, I have trained consistently in the Academy and have competed at the largest tournaments in the world. I have also worked security for a couple years as a female bouncer. This has provided me with not only the knowledge but also the hands on experience of putting into practice what works and why in the form of self-defence. My knowledge has saved my life more than once, and my goal is for every participant to leave the workshop with more than they came in the door with. As I always say, it is better to have the tools and not need them, than to need them and not have them. This is my passion, and life has led me on a path to do this work. I teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a form of self-defence, using technique and leverage against size and strength. I take being a female instructor very seriously, and do everything I need to do to keep myself sharp, strong, and informed. Because Jiu-Jitsu is very dynamic and is constantly improving and changing as each day goes by it is very important to me that I keep up with it. I do this by competing at the largest tournaments in the world. *IBJJF = International Brazilian Jiu-JItsu Federation White Belt 2008 IBJJF Pan-Am Gold Medalist Blue Belt 2009 IBJJF Pan-Am Silver Medalist 2010 IBJJF Adult Worlds Silver Medalist Purple Belt 2011 IBJJF Pan-American Gold Medalist 2011 IBJJF Adult Worlds Bronze Medalist 2014 IBJJF Pan-American Gold Medalist 2014 North American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Jiu-Jitsu Championship Silver Medalist 2015 North American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation All American 2xGold Medalist and Silver Medalist 2015 IBJJF Pan-American Silver Medalist 2016 IBJJF Pan-American Gold Medalist 2016 International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Seattle Medium Heavy Gold Medalist and Open Weight Gold Medalist Brown Belt 2017 IBJJF Pan-American Gold Medalist 2017 IBJJF Seattle open Medium Heavy Gold Medalist and Open Weight Gold Medalist 2017 IBJJF Masters Worlds Silver Medalist 2018 CBJJF BC Provincial Championship Silver medalist 2018 IBJJF Pan-American Gold Medalist 2018 IBJJF Masters Worlds Gold Medalist 2018 IBJJF Masters Worlds Open Weight Silver Medalist 2019 UAEJJF Canadian National Cup Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship Open Weight Gold Medalist 2019 IBJJF Worlds Silver Medalist 2019 IBJJF Masters Worlds Gold Medalist 2019 IBJJF Masters Worlds Open Weight Silver Medalist Sarah is the head instructor for the Women’s Only Program. She has had countless amateur matches in San-Shou (kickboxing with takedowns) and has won the most international medals in Jiu-Jitsu of any female in the Okanagan. She teaches with passion, intensity and incredible experience, building an incomparable women’s program. "I started training in 2005, competed and continued training until 2011 and then moved to Kelowna to be business partners with Jorden Reichenbach. I love competing and training because of the raw honesty it brings. There are no shortcuts, no ways to ‘fake’ what you can and cannot do or what you know. It all comes down to hard work. This is why the rewards from Jiu-Jitsu are something to be very proud of, and for me so worth it. The skills, experience and passion of training over the years is what I seek to instill in my students through my instruction at Pacific Top Team. My greatest enjoyment is to watch the journey each student takes from the first time they step onto the mats to the transformation they make and the improved quality of life they end up with. Pacific Top Team is my home and second family. As our team grows in strength and numbers it only gets better." Pacific Top Team Kelowna 100 - 1835 Gordon Drive events@kelownanow.com
