Now that we have entered the month of October, Environment Canada will once again be issuing bulletins for those travelling over the higher elevations.
The first text bulletin has been issued and motorists are already being warned about wet flurries along the Coquihalla Highway. According to Environment Canada, there is a chance of wet flurries overnight on the Coquihalla and the Okanagan Connector, as well as Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
Highway 97C may even see up to two centimetres of snowfall overnight on Friday. Snow levels may lower to 1,500 metres before morning, which means some higher neighbourhoods in Kelowna may see a bit of snowfall.
At the lower elevation, such as at the valley bottom, there is a chance of showers this weekend. A reminder to motorists that winter tires or chains are required on high mountain passes. Approved winter tires must have an M+S symbol or a mountain with a snowflake symbol on them. They also have to be in good condition with a minimum tread depth of 3.5 mm.
