If you are looking to change your career why not consider working at a local restaurant as the company has been named as the best place to work in Canada.

The annual Employees’ Choice Awards for 2016 have been released by Glassdoor, an online career community, and Earls Kitchen and Bar has been named as the best place to work in Canada. The awards are based solely on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback, by completing a company review about their job, work environment, and employer over the past year.

For the first time ever, the Best Places to Work in Canada category was added to the awards. Earls Kitchen and Bar received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from employees as respondents said they enjoy working with great people. Employees said they have amazing support at the company and are always pushed to reach both personal and professional goals. Training classes are also considered a huge bonus by employees who say they learn valuable skills through these classes.

Earls is a family owned casual dining chain that operates 66 restaurants in Canada and the United States. The company’s head office is located in Vancouver and the company was founded in 1982 by father and son, Leroy Earl "Bus" Fuller and Stanley Earl Fuller. The independent restaurant group employs more than 7,000 people from Vancouver to Miami.

Ceridian came in second place on the list, followed by Apple, and Salesforce. Lululemon also made the top 10 as did Telus and Manulife. The Best Place to Work awards honours employers with more than 1,000 employees and winners are ranked based on their overall rating from the past year.

When an employee submits a company review on Glassdoor, he or she is asked to give their opinion on some of the best reasons to work for their employer (pros), any downsides (cons), and is encouraged to provide advice to management.

Employees are also asked to rate how satisfied they are with their employer overall, rate their CEO, as well as rate five key workplace attributes, including career opportunities, compensation & benefits, culture & values, senior management and work-life balance. In addition, employees are asked whether they would recommend their employer to a friend and what their opinion is of the employer’s business outlook in the next six months.
