It’s the perfect beach companion and patio drink - it’s Rosé season and there are lots of options to choose from.
To get you started, here are some Kelowna born Rosé wines that will quench your thirst for summer.
The Vibrant Vine Rose 2016
This pale pink drink is just what the doctor ordered. With a “vigorous fruity aroma, layered with hints of peach and pear” this is the only company you need for after work beach days.
The Vibrant Vine is also releasing their 2017 Rose just in time for patio season. It’s bottled and ready to go, an they’re confident it’s going to be a hit. Get your sun hat and your wine glasses out!
St. Hubertus & Oak Bay Estate Winery Frizzante Rose
This one has been dubbed “sunshine trapped in a bottle” by this local winery. The St. Hubertus Winery Frizzante Rose is perfect for warm summer days at the lake. With flavours of spicy strawberries, cranberry and crem, they recommend pairing it with salads, sashimi, grilled salmon, or just by itself.
Kitsch 2017 Pinot Noir Rose
The Okanagan in a glass! The perfect cool drink for summer parties, this is the second vintage of Rose from Kitsch. They say it’s “beautiful colour looks just like it smells: Strawberries and cream, watermelon, and happiness.”
Sandhill Rose 2017
This coral pink wine from Sandhill Winery has aromas of melon, peach, raspberry, watermelon and white currant. This juicy off-dry patio mate is full of fruity notes of melon and strawberry with hints of red currant, pomegranate and melon.
Pairs well with antipasto plates, Greek salad, grilled salmon, crab cakes, feta cheese, or grilled pork tenderloin.
Quails’ Gate Lucy’s Block Rose 2017
The perfect drink to take to the beach! Enjoy the crisp flavours as you watch the waves roll in. Named after Lucy Mary Whitworth, Grandmother of the Quails’ Gate family, this rose is a single vineyard blend of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes from their vineyard in East Kelowna. Expect notes of fresh berries, summer blossoms, delicate herbs and the subtle spice of pepper. Recommended pairings include seafood, fresh crab salad with summer herbs and melon, or a nice charcuterie.
