Craft beer lovers will have to wait a little longer for the much-anticipated opening of Kelowna’s new CRAFT Beer Market.

Located in the old Paramount Theatre on Bernard Avenue, CRAFT will feature beer from B.C. and around the world, as well as fresh, local and sustainable food.

The restaurant, which will surely become a major part of Kelowna’s downtown core, is set to open in early 2018.

“We are extremely excited to be joining the Kelowna community,” said PJ L’Heureux, President and Founder of CRAFT Beer Market. “We are looking forward to sharing our love of craft beer and local food with the community while preserving the building’s historic roots.”

The new Kelowna location will have 482 seats, which includes a more than 200 seat, three-season, rooftop patio with greenery and heaters for the cooler days.

Part of the deal with using the old Paramount Theatre was keeping the existing marquee and historic Paramount sign, which have both been refurbished.

“Since I was born, I have spent every summer in the Okanagan, and love everything about it,” L’Heureux added. “We recognize the important role the Paramount Theatre played in this community and we want to continue to honour its legacy.”

The first CRAFT Beer Market opened in Calgary six years ago and has continued to grow throughout Canada.

Locations have since opened in Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto, each with more than 100 beers on tap.

Vancouver’s location, for example, boasts 140 taps that pour everything from rare Imperial stouts to sour ales, alongside more traditional lagers and pilsners.

CRAFT’s “New North American Cuisine” offers a wide-range of delicious food options for everyone as well.

The menu features locally sourced produce and meats, signature menu items like Fast Food Sushi and Beer Can Chicken, weekend brunch and a family friendly menu.

KelownaNow will have more coverage on the grand opening once the date is revealed and gets closer.
