Kianna Sposato is a local student who is poised for national and maybe even international fame. She works at McDonald's restaurant where her manager encouraged her to enter the Voice of McDonald's singing competition. She decided to take the risk, not knowing how it would turn out. Before she knew it, she had become one of the 12 finalists in Canada! Now the contest is in a voting stage where you can online to support this Kelowna talent. Simply go to the Voice of McDonald's website and rate Kianna on her video. If she manages to finish in the top 5, she will travel to Toronto for the Canadian final. Kianna loves to perform and travel and hoped to live in a foreign country some day and today Kianna Sposato is In Focus.

Making top 12 in Canada for Voice of McDonald's. I entered because it sounded like fun, but it's really awesome that I was chosen

Your manager suggested you enter the Voice of McDonald's contest. How did she learn you could sing?
The owner of the McDonald’s location I work at is a friend of our family so he knows that I love performing arts; playing instruments, singing and theatre. He mentioned it to my manager, Gayle who encouraged me to enter the Voice of McDonald’s singing competition.

When you first entered the contest, what were your expectations as to how you would do?
I really wasn’t sure how I would do.  I wasn’t sure how many other McDonald’s employees in Canada would enter.  I love to sing and I wanted to show my talent and entered for the experience and a chance to move forward in the competition.  It would be an honour to have the opportunity to compete with people from around the world.

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge as key to your success?
Of course…my mom, my vocal coach Anna Jacyszyn and Mike Pedersen at Music City Studios for producing my video you see/hear online.

What would you like to say to people who are thinking of voting for you?
That this is an incredible opportunity for anyone and to be able to advance to the Canadian final would be an amazing experience.  I would also let people know that McDonald’s Canada is a great company that is supportive and provides exciting opportunities for its employees.  For each Global semi-finalists, McDonald’s will donate $1000 to the nearest Ronald McDonald house who provide accommodations for families of seriously ill, hospitalized children.  It would make me proud to know I had some involvement in making a donation to a very worthy cause.

If I could change 1 thing about Kelowna, it would be:
I would want Kelowna to be known for having a great music scene

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The hot summers and swimming in the lakes!
