Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
From Mumbai (Bombay), India. I have lived in Kelowna since August 2004.
Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife, Melinda. She helps me see the positive side of every negative experience.
If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Bermuda. It relaxes, refreshes and inspires me.
What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Torino Clothing as they carry unique men’s clothing.
What is your favourite activity?
Research, Creating new designs/ideas.
If you had to choose: pizza, tacos, or burgers?
Tacos
What is a hidden gem you enjoy in the Okanagan?
My backyard. Still a work in progress, but we designed it to remind us of Bermuda.
What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Sometimes, not having a pen to write with when I am a luxury pen maker.
What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Discovering my passion in creating unique luxury pens.
Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Summer vacations in Goa, India with cousins.
Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Help out with church or school fundraisers when I can.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Make sure everyone had food to eat and a roof over their head.
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking.
Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Anywhere. The reason we chose to live in Kelowna was because there is beauty all around us.
Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Employment compensation that offers comfortable living for everyone.
If you were granted one wish for work or in life, what would it be?
I want to own my own “Mascarenhas” brand store in Kelowna.

I play the violin and have my music certificates from the Trinity College of Music, London.

Make and sell handcrafted luxury pens in exotic/rare/unique woods/materials.

Why did you get into/start this business?
To bring variety into the world of luxury hand writing instruments.
What is the goal of your business?
To eventually offer a whole range of unique creations in addition to handwriting instruments.
What has been your biggest struggle either in work or life?
Recognizing and staying clear of people who take advantage of my good nature.
If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do things different in my earlier years; e.g. complete my undergrad; save up more in my bachelor years.
Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
By shopping local, you support small businesses that provide employment to locals and progress the local economy.

My friends Rob Boyo and Daniel Gonsalves from Attention to Detail. They have just started their own small business workshop in detailing luxury yachts.

Other information you would like to share:
Many people have told me that seeing my pens and holding them in their hand makes them see the uniqueness, creativity and passion put into them. Viewing online pictures does not do them justice. This is the reason why I mostly like to meet new clients and show them my whole range of pens before they make a decision. Sometimes clients are confused about which pens to buy and I help them make a decision based on the background of the person they are gifting it to.
