Meet Angelique! She owns Cento Wear, a women's fashion boutique in Vernon.



Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?    
From The Netherlands, immigrated 15 years ago to Vernon B.C.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband because we are both outdoorsy and enjoy going on adventures together

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why? 
In Vernon: My own store Cento Wear, I always make sure to shop local.

Describe yourself in one word.
Passionate

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
The South of France because we used to travel there with our children.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?    
Hiking, Paddle Boarding, anything outdoors.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
When I didn't realize my daughter was missing and the cops found her and returned her, while we were shopping in a busy market.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Hiking the West Coast Trail, which inspired me to put my life in perspective.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory. 
Going on family holidays in Europe.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I donate a lot of clothing from my store and support local initiatives.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?   
Change inequality. 

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Go for a hike on many trails that the Kelowna area offers.


Where would you like to see a positive change in Kelowna and why? 
A greater emphasis on hosting large events in Vernon, that attracts more people to the Okanagan.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Nature, the lakes, the ski hill, the overall beauty of the area

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Walk the El Camino de Santiago 

2. Canoe the Bowron Lake circuit

 3. Become an Oma

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
That I am Canadian by birth with a Dutch accent.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Cento Wear- It is a Women's clothing boutique.

Why did you get into this business?
Fashion is my passion

What is the goal of your business?
To make people feel confident and beautiful in the clothing I sell.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?    
Losing my father.

If you could start all over again, would you do things the same or would things be different?
I would do things the same.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Be careful out there. (Especially to my kids).

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
It's very typical but it's: Treat people how you would want to be treated.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My mother, who lives in Amsterdam

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Because this way you support local families, and the money goes back into the community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Seeing my kids grow up and them graduating school.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My kids, Doortje and Mees because I am proud of their accomplishments.
