Meet Brad Simpson! Brad is originally from Prince Albert, Sask, but moved to Kelowna in 2005!

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My girlfriend Taylor. She motivates me on a daily basis, as well as keeps me in line (as much as possible).

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Pearsons Deli. All day breakfast, and the Mikey P sandwich...need I say more?

Describe yourself in one word.
Adventurous.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Up to my cabin in Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan. Prince Alberts national park. If you have ever been, you understand. All of the friends from PA or Saskatoon drive up for the weekend. Golfing, boating, laughing, and a couple cold ones.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Snowboarding at Big White, or hiking in the beautiful forest surrounding Kelowna

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Damn, too many to count.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Recently, when I decided to take my hobby of woodworking to the next level and sell to the public. The amount of support and positive energy from my peers and community has been very inspiring.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Skateboarding. Being 13-years-old, skating through the whole city (Prince Albert) with all my friends, until it was pitch dark outside. Shovelling snow in the winter for a dry patch to skate on. Building ramps with my dad. When I think about my childhood, skateboarding is the first thing that comes to mind.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

More constant smiles

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Take my kayak out on the lake, middle of winter. So relaxing.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would like to see a positive change in the homeless community. More shelters and job opportunities such as working in the orchards and whatnot.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Easy, the people.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Buy a van, renovate it, and travel for a couple of years.
2. Snowboarding in Japan.
3. Have a career that I love, as well as benefits the community.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I once lit off a shoebox full of fireworks in my parents' basement (sorry mom and dad)

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Instagram is the easiest. I can be reached on my business account...@oakanaganwoodwork, or my personal page @bradical__

What is the name of your business/organization?
Oakanagan Woodwork.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I started woodworking roughly three years ago when I couldn’t find a shoe rack big enough for all my shoes, so I made one out of a pallet. In July 2018 I decided to take my passion to the next level and start selling to the public.

What is the goal of your business?
Running my business and woodworking as a full-time job.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I don’t see my struggles as exactly that, more so lessons.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
The same. I like where I’m at.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Docs, anyone?

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Just listen to that corny song by Chumbawamba “Tubthumping”

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Probably Morgan Freeman. I would get him to re-do my voicemail and narrate our entire day. Find me the person who wouldn’t love that.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting your community is huge. Why give money to a huge billion dollar organization when you could be putting money back into the very community you live in.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Making my first sale. Shows that people are will to trade me their hard earned money for my hard work and determination.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
@KelownaNow! Thanks for the opportunity to be featured on your website and help get my brand out there!

Also, shoutout to good friend and even better realtor, Sadge Flor

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way! Please do not hesitate to message me with any questions you may have regarding getting a custom piece done for yourself or a loved one! Old pieces can be mocked, new ideas are welcome as well!

Thanks, everyone!
