Meet Christopher! Christopher was born in Terrace BC and loves spending time with his son and wife Katrina!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

Terrace B.C. / Lower Mainland - Have lived here for about 3 years now.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My son Leo and my love Katrina.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
@truegentsbarbershop - They always keep my hair looking fresh

Describe yourself in one word.
Passionate

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?

Maui, Hawaii - we've always wanted to visit and are going November 2019!

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Community Acupuncture

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Pooped my pants in elementary. I asked to go to the washroom and didn't make it then just ran to my Grandma's house, who lived close by. Needless to say I didn't go back to class that day.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Meeting my partner Katrina. Since we met my whole life changed directions for the better. Together we have taken on the incredible and challenging journey of becoming parents and opening a new business together. We have finally accepted how crazy we really were to have opened a business while she was still pregnant!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Some of my best childhood memories are of camping growing up. We always spent a lot of time outdoors and I have fond memories of camping in Haida Gwaii, the Yukon and Northern B.C. with my family in our little camper.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I run Community Acupuncture at CJR Acupuncture Monday and Thursday evenings 4-8 pm which offers affordable sliding scale acupuncture treatment to the community - making Registered Acupuncture affordable to everyone.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

I wish that everyone would be kinder to themselves. If people learned to accept and love themselves more fully, the whole world would be a better place.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
If I want to be by myself like to find a quiet place on Knox mountain to get a vantage point of the city. Otherwise I'm getting my solitude by the lakeside or in nature somewhere.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would like to see the landscape of healthcare change to reflect the growing needs of our community. Safe affordable natural healthcare needs to be within reach for everyone and an integrative approach to overcoming our health problems must become the new standard for best healthcare practices.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The weather and the outdoors!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

Own/Operate a Medicinal Herb Farm in the Okanagan.
Dive the Great Barrier Reef.
Grow the majority of my own food.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I have had a couple grey hairs since as long as I can remember.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
@cjracupuncture (instagram) www.facebook.com/cjracupuncture (facebook), @cjr_acupuncture (twitter)

What is the name of your business/organization?
CJR Acupuncture

Why did you get into/start this business?
To help people stay healthy while becoming their best selves.

What is the goal of your business?

To make Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine an affordable and practical tool for everyone's health and wellness.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Mental Illness in my family and the recent loss of my father.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
No regrets!

What do you always find yourself saying?
It will be what it will be.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Trust your intuition while still acknowledging your brain.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Dr. Eileen Yue-Ling Han, PhD, LAc in her San Diego clinic so I could soak up some more Balance Method Acupuncture techniques.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Because people take a lot of risk to create local businesses and by supporting them you are helping someone feed their family while enriching your own life with their goods or service, and by keeping them alive, that of your community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
The opening of our clinic in Glenmore.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
@kelownaherbalist because she's great at what she does and is working hard to bring her passion and knowledge of Western Medical Herbalism to Kelowna.

Some general comments I would like to share are:
Live a full life, don't hold grudges, and hug your loved ones.
