Meet DJ Wombold. He was born in Alberta and has lived in Kelowna on and off since 1999.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My son, Declan, because when I get caught up in how stressful life can be, he’s always there to remind me of what’s important. Whether its playing tag, Lego, or board games I know spending time with my family should always come first.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
My wife and I try our best to attend the farmer's markets whenever possible. We love the fresh produce and to help support local growers!

Describe yourself in one word.
Enthusiastic.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Thailand. As much as I love winter and the snow, I haven’t been able to enjoy a vacation in way too long.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Everything to do with the lake, whether it be beach volleyball, swimming, or sun tanning. I’m game!

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
My sister mistook my toothbrush for hers for probably about two weeks… And no I didn’t notice until she confessed…

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you
I forget where I heard it, probably from a song, but it went something like this. 'People will drive in traffic for an hour to run on a stationary treadmill.' Ever since then I’ve been inspired to ditch the car and bike as much as I can to where I need to go. Kelowna summers are perfect for this!

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My dad shovelling snow off the rink in Alberta, while my mom put cayenne pepper in my socks to keep my feet warm so I could play hockey outside all day.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
The team at Pro Motion Clinic can be found at various sporting events and tournaments throughout the Okanagan, helping athletes to compete and perform at their best.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Free schooling.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Local coffee shops to sit down and read a good book!

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
More paved bike paths to encourage people to bike to work without commuting along busy roads.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The lake!

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Travel to Europe
2. Take a picture with the Stanley Cup
3. Compete in a triathlon

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I’ve volunteered in Belize performing dental care and Honduras building hurricane shelters and fixing buildings.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Facebook and Instagram.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Pro Motion Clinic.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I chose to be a chiropractor because I love helping my patients reach their full potential in everything they do.

What is the goal of your business?
Injury prevention and getting people moving better so they can live better.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
During the final year of my doctorate in Portland, Oregon my wife had to stay in Canada for the birth of our second child. It was very hard to be separated during that time.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I wouldn’t change a thing.

What do you always find yourself saying?
I cannot control everything but I can always control my responses. I find myself saying this more and more especially since having children.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Do something every day that challenges you.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
George R.R. Martin, I need to know how Game of Thrones is going to end!

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
I’d rather help a farmer put food on the table than the CEO of Walmart fuel up his Porsche.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Being a father to my two beautiful boys.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My parents, Doug and Denise Wombold! They have done so much to support my dreams and goals. They are instrumental in helping me achieve success each and every day.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
Shonna Fox.
