Meet Danielle! Danielle is originally from Vancouver, BC and has been living here in Kelowna for about two and a half years. She enjoys spending quality time with her children, and hiking the beautiful trails that the Okanagan has to offer!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I am from Vancouver. We moved to Kelowna 2-1/2 years ago.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My kids, because they are my life!

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Birch hill studio because they carry awesome labels and a bonus is they are a lot of fun!

Describe yourself in one word.
Dreamer.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
San Miguel because it’s such a beautiful culture-injected town.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
I have a lot, but the most recent one would be when I was knee deep in an Aretha Franklin song and the people next to me were laughing so hard. That green light couldn’t come sooner!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
How genuinely supportive not only people in this community have been but other local "cookiers".

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My mom used to be a dolphin trainer in Mexico and during lunchtime when the open pools were closed, I would dive in and free swim with them. That went down in the books!

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I have donated to bake sale fundraisers in the past but My husband and I really want to make sure our kids realize the everyday luxuries they have that many don’t. We have handed out goodies to the homeless and will continue to do so because some people aren’t dealt with the same cards we are lucky to have.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
World hunger.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Okanagan Lake.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I think Kelowna is evolving as the community is growing bigger and that’s all you can really ask for.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The community.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Visit the louvre museum
2. Go dog sledding
3. Swim with a whale shark

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I grew up in Mexico.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Instagram.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Sprinkle and whisk

Why did you get into/start this business?
My love for all things creative!

What is the goal of your business?
My goal is to one day open my own bakery.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?

Balance being a mom/wife and work.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Every step I’ve taken has led me to where I am today. So no, I wouldn’t change a thing!

What do you always find yourself saying?
"I wish I had more time."

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Take it day by day. Some days we have good days and some days are not so good but everything does happen to us for a reason, whether it be a lesson or a blessing."

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
There are many people I would love to spend a whole day with who have passed on, but if I had to pick a person that is still alive it would be Conan O’Brien because laughter is the best medicine.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Because it makes us stronger as a community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My kids.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Jaclyn CEO of Okanagan lifestyle because she has such a big heart.
