Meet Dave Obrand. Dave is from Vancouver but has lived in Kelowna for 25 years. He graduated in Rutland and loves to spend time with those who mean the most to him. 

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
Born in Vancouver, moved to Kelowna in grade five 25 years ago and graduated from Rutland.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
can't pinpoint one person so all of my Family and close friends.

What is yourfavourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Woodfire bakery, could eat there every day.

Describe yourself in one word.
ambitious.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I'm happy right where I am.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Visiting my nieces and nephew.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Too many to list.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
When putting your mind heart and soul into something great things can come from it and have. Starting and building this company has truly inspired me to work hard.

Tellus your favourite childhood memory.
playing Hockey on the streets with all the neighbor growing up. We even made team shirts and called ourselves the Red Devils.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
Have a CBD company for animals we work with a few BC charities. We donate a dollar per bottle sold to help with rescued animals. We also donate bottles to rescues to help with the transitions.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
For Mcdonalds to have onion rings.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Always loved heading out with the dog to Bertrum beach. 

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would like to see more entertaining things come back for kids. Growing up in Kelowna we had the Flinstones, boardwalk roller rink, waterslides in Rutland, Westside and more.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
I loved growing up in Kelowna, when I was young it felt more like a community and I would love to see that come back to life.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Finally go on a trip overseas.
Like a lot of people have an animal sanctuary.
Finally have onion rings at Mcdonalds one day.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
not much to hide.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?
Through Facebook and Instagram usually.

What is the name of your business/organization?
CBD 4 Paws and Hemp Heal.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Found out my 10.5-year-old dog had Cancer and had 3 weeks left to live. I didn't want to take that as an answer so I deiced to do something about it.

What is the goal of your business?
to educate and help out others that were in my situation.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
It was realizing to not listen to others and do what you feel is best for you and just push forward.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Can't live with regrets, always have to look forward in life and what is to come.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"EH."

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
You can't lose something you never had.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
My dog. He is always happy to see me no matter what the situation.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To support people in your own town. you always want to see others around you do well.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Building this company to what it has become.
