Meet Jean-Pierre Letnick. Jean-Pierre was born in Banff but has lived in Kelowna since 1999. He loves to spend time with his wife, walk the many trails, and work at his business.

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

Born in Banff Alberta and moved to Kelowna in 1999 when I was 11 years old.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My wife Joanna is my favorite person to spend time with. We work together, travel together, raise a family together and experience life together.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Don't have a favourite local store in Kelowna as we have so many that we love. Too difficult to choose just one.

Describe yourself in one word.
Motivated.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Would love to go to Singapore. My wife is from Mainland China and she hasn't been to Singapore yet. We both want to go try the food and see the area.

What is your
favourite activity in Kelowna?
Other than working we enjoy going for walks. Our home is in Upper mission so there are lots of trails.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Had my pants pulled down in the hall when I was in elementary school.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Meet with Stacy Kohut when I was in elementary school. He was giving a motivational presentation. I randomly met up with him a few years later and learned more about overcoming challenges and self-motivation.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Building wood fires in the backyard and roasting marshmallows in the middle of winter while drinking hot chocolate with my family.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
We attend charity events such as the Kidney Walk and BBQ, JDRF Starlight Gala fundraiser. I also volunteer on the board of directors for the BC Liberal Kelowna Lake Country political campaigns.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

End hunger.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Sparkling Hill.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
It's a community of hard-working and humble individuals.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Pay off our house mortgage.
See our children grow up.
Travel at least once per year.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
Started my first business when I was 6 years old and been a serial entrepreneur all my life.

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media?

Facebook is the easiest way to find me as JP Letnick.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Letnick Estates Group.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Always loved real estate ever since I watched my parents build their own home in Banff. Learned early on that most wealth is created through real estate.

What is the goal of your business?
Ensure that real estate consumers are offered service in their own language so they don't get taken advantage of.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Finding unique ways to self motivate every single day.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?

I wouldn't waste my time playing video games when I was young. I love them and it was fun but I didn't have things like Twitch or YouTube at the time where I could make money from it so it was a waste of my time. I would focus on building my business.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Find the positive in any situation.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Take care of your health first and don't push yourself too much. Without health, you have nothing.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Elon Musk.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?

Shopping locally is important as it supports your neighbors.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Raising our daughter.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My wife Joanna Wang. She came to Canada barely knowing English and has built a successful real estate business with me in a very short time.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
Joanna Wang.
