Meet Kim! Kim is originally from Vancouver and has been living here in the beautiful Okanagan for five years. She enjoys hiking the many scenic trails in the local area and travelling the world with her family.

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
Vancouver. I've lived in Kelowna for 5 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?

Goal-oriented.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
A transatlantic cruise for sight-seeing and R & R.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Hiking.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
When visiting Washington, D.C., I spent an hour in the Capitol Building, thinking it was the White House!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Meeting Jane Goodall and Margaret Atwood in person were exciting and inspiring. Both women have achieved so much and continue to inspire future writers, global ambassadors, biologists, primatologists, educators and philanthropists.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
My first plane ride (to Disneyland).

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
For years I've donated clothing, household and decor items to individuals, women's shelters, ReStore and Salvation Army. I've also donated to the BC Cancer Society and the BCSPCA.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

A global society that promotes equality and liberty.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Time alone is hard to find in a busy city so when I'm seeking alone time, I head to the mountains to hike.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Addressing crime (particularly drug use and growing homelessness which often go hand-in-hand). Residents, tourists and small businesses in Kelowna deserve to enjoy the city's amenities, parks and beaches.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The people, wineries, lake, weather, golf courses, activities and restaurants.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Hike the West Coast Trail.
See Celine Dion perform.
Release baby turtles into the ocean.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Blushing Pear Vintage Rentals & Events

Why did you get into/start this business?
I love all things related to decor!

What is the goal of your business?
To provide romantic, elegant decor for weddings. Also to provide decor for private functions and corporate events.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Balancing work demands with free time. I'm a workaholic by nature.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting small local businesses translates to a healthier community for everyone. The more successful a local business is, the more they and their families will spend in the community. Also, local businesses tend to have high-quality products/services.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Owning my own business.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
My husband, Bill Hotzon, Realtor at Sage Executive Group Real Estate. He's a great realtor, but he also works alongside me, delivering, installing lights, etc.
