Meet Krystyna. Krystyna has been living here in Kelowna for 30 years! She enjoys skiing up at Big White in the winter and relaxing out on the lake fishing in the summertime.

 
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I have been in Kelowna for the past 30 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My husband. He encourages and supports me in everything I do.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Natures Fare. I love their Natural and Organic products and good customer service.

Describe yourself in one word.
Determined.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Fishing. It is very relaxing for me by the mountain lakes.


What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Golfing and Skiing.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
There were several episodes as I was learning the English Language. One of them was when I wanted to know the "prawns and conts" about a specific product. (pros & cons)

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Recently, I published my first book 'Never Young' and received great reviews from many writers and Authors.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Summer of 1960. Spending time with my two cousins and my Auntie Veronica who was like a Mother to me.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
For several years I volunteered at the Crisis Centre. I was also involved with Meals on Wheels, delivering hot lunches to the shut-ins. I support Christian Missions and I volunteer at my local church. For the past 10 years, I have also been sponsoring a young Ethiopian boy.


If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?

There would be NO violence in the World.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Sitting on a rock by Mission Creek and listening to the sound of water.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would like to see a Solution for Homelessness.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The location, the lake and the wonderful people.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
I have just completed one of them. I wrote and published my book 'Never Young'.
Take my husband to Poland to show him where I came from.
To write another book.


Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.

At 16 years old, when I came to Canada I spoke several other languages but didn't speak English.

What is the name of your business/organization?
I am now retired from Bellamy Clinic of Massage Therapy and have become an Author.

Why did you get into/start this business?
It has been a dream of mine for a long time to write a book.


What is the goal of your business?
To write more books.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Impatience with myself to accomplish everything, today.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Start writing sooner.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"That's great..."

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Be patient with your progress."


If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
This is really hard to answer. There are so many wonderful people in the world that it is difficult to choose just one.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
It is good to support the local economy. By purchasing locally grown food, it has a much smaller carbon footprint.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
At the present time, it is writing and publishing my first book.
