Meet Paula! She's passionate about aviation and loves all things food!

Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
I'm originally from London, England. I moved to Calgary and lived there for 8 years before moving to Kelowna. I have now lived in Kelowna for 12 years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with?
I have just recently become a Grandmother and I love spending time with my granddaughter! Unfortunately they live in Calgary, so it's not as often as I wish.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Lakehouse on Bernard, I love food, cooking it, buying it eating it and reading about it!

Describe yourself in one word.
Positive.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Greece, I have never been and I truly believe it to be one of the most perfect places on this planet (besides the Okanagan).

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Eating, again the food thing! I just love restaurants and the chefs that make them. The ability to be able to buy fresh local produce and create such wonderful delights for us to eat. Along with the pairing of the wines, of course.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
It's too embarrassing to share!

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Working towards my present role with such wonderful professional people. And I am very much looking forward to my role in the newly incorporate NFPO KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
The summers, and being out from school and such a simple life.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I am privileged to work for such a large and awesome company KF Aerospace, which exposes me to the Kelowna community. KF also has its own committee of people that are called Karing Friends. We raise money via donations, bake sales, etc., and give back to our own employees in their time of need. This also involves various charities around Kelowna where we donate our time and resources to those are close to our hearts. I love being able to give back to those in need where I can.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Homelessness.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Sparking Hills.

Where would you like to see a positive change in Kelowna and why?
Homelessness and infrastructure.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Location, the people, and the variety of activities available to all. I also believe that as a community we take great pride in Kelowna.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Travel, Travel, Travel!

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I used to be a smoker and I gave up when I moved to Canada

How do people connect with you, personally, through social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
All of the above.

What is the name of your business/organization?
KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Passion for Aviation.

What is the goal of your business?
The immediate goal is to complete the iconic BC wood-inspired building so that it can be enjoyed by the community and surrounding areas.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
I am very impatient - "I would be patient if I had more time."

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I do not think I would change any of my life challenges as they have moulded me to the person I am today.

What do you always find yourself saying?
Today I just want to be a better person than I was yesterday.

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Find the positive in any situation and remember "this too shall pass."

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Warren Buffett.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting locally is great for the economy, buying locally grown produce keeps the money in the community.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Post Graduate Education.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Tracy Medve, President KF Aerospace. She is an inspiration to all, and a born leader.
