Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?
We moved to Kelowna in 2004 and originally from the West Kootenays.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My favourite people to spend time with are my husband and two sons, they are the highlight of my life.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
I love Lakeview Market as the food tastes homemade and they try and source local suppliers.

Describe yourself in one word.
Optimistic.

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
I would stay in our beautiful BC and possibly take one of the Rocky Mountaineer Train Tours.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
I love hiking the many gorgeous trails here in Kelowna.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I am cognizant regardless of who we are and where we have come from that everyone deserves to have their basic needs met. Whether that comes in the form of teaching my family to share warm drinks and blankets in the winter, or sharing a special treat following one of our events, my heart lies with our Kelowna homeless downtown.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Too embarrassed to say.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Normally I would say becoming a nurse almost 30 years ago, but thinking about it now, I would have to say opening my own skin care businesses.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Our family of seven sitting in our huge car in the A&W parking lot with our tray of food on the half rolled down window and my dad eating his Great Grandpa Teen Burger! Yumm

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
To be kind to one another.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Owning three skin care businesses.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
Taking in Kelowna's majestic scenery.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would love to see kinder and more patient drivers on our Okanagan roads.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The endless activities and events going on all the time.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Volunteer as a Nurse abroad with "Operation Smile"
Ride in a Hot Air Balloon
Release baby turtles into the ocean

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am a horse lover and would love to have a small hobby farm someday.

What is the name of your business/organization?
Kelowna Medical Aesthetics

Why did you get into/start this business?
I appreciate beautiful looking skin and want people look their very best so they never feel self conscious.

What is the goal of your business?
To make sure all our clients are treated like a "VIP".

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Saying "no" to people and setting boundaries.

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
I don't have any regrets because every good and bad thing I've experienced has brought me to exactly where I am today.

What do you always find yourself saying?
"You Got This!"

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
"Be happy, laugh and enjoy every day and every moment, as none of us are guaranteed tomorrow."

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I would love to spend a day traveling with Guy Fieri and test out different Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Supporting small local businesses translates to a healthier community for everyone.

Give someone you think that deserves it a shout out and explain why!
Gord, my husband of 25 years.

My choice for the KelownaNow In Focus spotlight is:
Charlene Pears. She is the kindest and most generous person I know.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported my business in our new location downtown this past year. We celebrated our Anniversary this past week and welcome new clients graciously.
