Meet Tracy! Tracy is originally from the Kootenays but has called Kelowna home for 49 years! She has a love of anything Disney and spending time with her amazing grandkids!


Where are you from and how long have you lived in Kelowna?

I am from the Kootenays but I have lived in Kelowna now for 49 Years.

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My Grandkids, they are awesome, so full of life and a constant inspiration to me.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
My favourite store in Kelowna is Opus art supplies because of the quality of art materials, classes and wonderful and helpful staff.

Describe yourself in one word.
Creative

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Disneyland because it is my happy place.

What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Venturing to beaches and parks, treasure hunting for that favourite spot.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
The day I ran a red light and almost hit a police officer.


What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?

In 2011 I suffered sudden cardiac arrest, I was gone for 20 minutes before firemen and paramedics arrived and revived me. Here one minute and gone the next puts a perspective on the value of life. It inspired me and continues to inspire me to be grateful everyday for those I love and the opportunity to share hope with others.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
I don’t think I have one favourite memory, but Christmas was always magical for us in our family. Fun laughter, good food, board games and waiting up late hoping to catch a glimpse of the big guy in the red suit.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
I do volunteer for the heart and stroke foundation and I love teaching children art in the schools.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Peace between all nations.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
I would find a bench on a beach where I could be quiet and spend some time with my thoughts just being in the moment.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
I would like to see more pro active help for those on the street and in desperate situations. Also, we need to be able to offer more affordable housing for young families.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Kelowna is great because of the people, the beauty of the area, the range of available activities and the diversity of the community.


What are 3 things on your bucket list?

I don't have a bucket list, I always try to do what I aim for so I have no regrets or items on a list I have not accomplished yet.

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
Most people do not Know that I headed a proposal for a theme park here in the Okanagan many years ago.

What is the name of your business/organization?
The Inspired Art Co.

Why did you get into/start this business?
I got into this business because I love the arts and being creative and sharing this with others.

What is the goal of your business?
The goal of my business is to create wonderful art and help others to find balance in their lives awakening their imagination.

What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Time is my struggle; I never have enough time to accomplish all that I want to do.


If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?

I would say I am happy with most things, but with age and time comes wisdom so I would probably attempt to make it even better.

What do you always find yourself saying?

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
You only have one life do your best.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
I can't think of a person I would spend time with but I would love to spend a day at the Disney studios.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
Shopping locally helps support your community and encourages you to meet new neighbours and friends.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is by far my family, having been married for 35 years now raising two incredible daughters, and loving two amazing grandkids.
