Meet Tracy, she was raised in Vernon and has lived in Kelowna for 3 years. Tracy began experimenting with watercolour in 2012 and with acrylics in 2009. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists in October 2017 and is now pursuing a career in art, while continuing to practice as a Registered Social Worker. 

Who is your favourite person to spend time with and why?
My Grandson, Koba, he is two.

What is your favourite local store in Kelowna and why?
Michaels, as I get a lot of my art supplies there.

Describe yourself in one word.
Artistic

If you could go anywhere in the world right at this moment where would you go and why?
Jersey, Channel Islands. My beach scenes are inspired by a recent visit there and it is a gem of an island with 27 beautiful beaches and UK charm.



What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Enjoying trying new restaurants and taking in the atmosphere on Bernard on an outdoor patio

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Falling while on holidays in the UK in my friend's parent's bathroom and hurting my ribs on the first day there.

What is the most inspiring thing that has happened to you?
Music inspires me and my first painting experiences came from attending music festivals. Meeting people by chance and travelling around the world to see beautiful places and art is really inspiring and I recently took a trip to Paris.

Tell us your favourite childhood memory.
Going with my parents to a campground with our neighbours in Oyama every year around my summer birthday. My Mom would pretend she forgot the cake every year and hide it in a big cooler.

Where do you volunteer or give back to in the community?
By coming to these art shows as sometimes it does not bring a profit but it is about seeing peoples experiences with my art and then feedback. I have painted commissions and donated a piece to the new Interior Health building recently did a piece for a co-worker in Vernon who lost her mother to cancer.



If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Racism.

Where would you sneak away to in Kelowna to spend some time alone?
My favourite lawn chair in my backyard, my art studio and Mission Creek Park.

Where would you like to see positive change in Kelowna and why?
Continuing festivals, art shows and music in the park as it is accessible to people of all ages and all socioeconomic status.

What do you think makes Kelowna great?
Downtown, I like the restaurants and the boardwalk.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?

  1. Work in another country
  2. Be able to make my art and painting my career
  3. Write a book

Tell us something that not everyone may know about you.
I am left-handed.

Why did you get into/start this business?
Because I love to draw and paint.

What is the goal of your business?
Maintain my original style and expand to showing my art in galleries and other businesses.



What has been your biggest struggle either at work or in life?
Being loyal

If you could start all over again would you do things the same or would things be different?
Some things different.

What do you always find yourself saying?
That was a blessing in disguise...

Tell us your best piece of life advice.
Believe you can do anything you want to do and listen to the passion that drives you.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
Bono from U2 as he is not only a rock star but he is a role model, mentor, humanitarian and family man. He is also creative, wise and compassionate.

Why do you think it is important to shop locally?
To drive prices down of local food and support our community

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Becoming a juried member of the Federation of Canadian Artists

My friend Bev for working all day long then helping me take down my booth at Arts on Avenue.
