1. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William visit Grenfell Tower residents

Dozens of Grenfell Tower residents that are dealing with the loss of loved ones and neighbours got a nice surprise on Friday morning. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William visited a relief centre in Kensington to visit some of these residents and the volunteers that have been helping them through such a tough time. The death toll following the fire is now over 30 people.


2. Rickie Fowler leads the U.S. Open, Robby Shelton leads at Gallagher’s Canyon

Okanagan golf fans have their eyes on two tournaments this week. The first is the 117th U.S. Open in Wisconsin, which the whole world is watching. The other is the GolfBC Championship here in Kelowna. Rickie Fowler has the lead at the U.S. Open after an opening round 65 (-7) and Robby Shelton leads after one round at the GolfBC Championship after shooting 63 (-8).


3. Macklemore parts ways with Ryan Lewis, drops new track

One of the best-known duos in the music business is no longer together. Macklemore announced on Thursday that he and Ryan Lewis had split ways and he accompanied the announcement with a new song. The song, which features Skylar Grey, is called Glorious and it’s received lots of praise so far.


4. A prankster strikes with fake outlets at Miami Airport

If you’ve ever taken a plane, you know how hard it is to find an outlet at the airport while you wait for your flight. Twitter user @justbasicdave decided to take advantage of that on his way to London for vacation. He put a sticker up in Miami Airport that looks exactly like an outlet and filmed other travellers trying to helplessly plug in their phone chargers. It’s mean...but still funny!


5. The Montreal Canadiens acquire Jonathan Drouin from Tampa Bay

It looks like the movement has begun ahead of Saturday’s deadline for NHL teams to submit protected players lists ahead of the expansion draft. On Thursday, Montreal acquired Jonathan Drouin from Tampa Bay for Mikhail Sergachev and a conditional second round pick. Drouin was the third overall pick in 2013 behind Nathan MacKinnon and Alex Barkov.
