Maybe the air conditioning systems across the pond are not up to par, but men across Europe are taking to Twitter with acts of defiance over not being able to wear shorts to the office.

Before you laugh out loud or roll your eyes too hard, let us explain.

The sudden uprising has been sparked by the heat wave much of Western Europe is currently experiencing.

The pro-shorts protest began on Monday when a British man was sent home from work for wearing shorts to the office in the midst of the heat wave.

Joey Barge wondered on Twitter why women were allowed to don skirts at work whilst men were denied a similar comfort. He posted a picture of himself in shorts as he was heading into the office.

The shorts were not well received by the call centre Barge works at.

When not allowed to wear his shorts, Barge returned in is this snazzy dress.

The bold move has since gone viral and inspired men across Europe to follow suite and don skirts to the office/classroom.

The video above shows bus drivers from Nantes, France showing up to work wearing skirts, as they are not allowed to wear shorts despite the hot conditions.

The results of these protest likely won't be recorded in the World's history books but it has inspired some change at the call centre where Barge works has relaxed its "no shorts" policy.
