Singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat says she is sick and tired of the pressure and unfair beauty standards placed upon her and women and is shunning them with a new song and video.

The 29-year-old American pop singer has written a song to empower women to be themselves and not ascribe to the unattainable beauty images placed upon them. The video for Try has only been online for a handful of days but has been viewed more than two million times. In an interview with Elle Magazine Caillat describes why she felt she needed to make the statement about beauty.

Caillat says she was feeling the pressure to be someone she is not, both musically and image-wise. Being in the spotlight made her somewhat responsible for the unattainable image and she was tired of it. "On one of my album covers, my arm was shaved down and it made me look very skinny. I think that gives a false reality," she tells Elle.
