The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has released the name of the man killed in a targeted shooting in Maple Ridge on Tuesday.

Around 10:15 p.m. Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on 240th Street where they found a 33 year old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Trevor Koehler was transported to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.  IHIT has taken control of the investigation and are searching for a suspect.

Investigators are looking for a light coloured, possibly cream or white compact vehicle. The make of the vehicle could be a Honda, Toyota or Acura according to police. Sergeant Adam MacIntosh with IHIT says Koehler had no criminal record, was not known to police and does not believe his shooting is gang related.

"At this early stage of the investigation we can say Trevor was the victim of a targeted attack and this was not a random occurrence.  IHIT continues to work with the Ridge Meadows RCMP to determine why this shooting occurred and who is responsible." said Sgt. MacIntosh.

Police are appealing to the public for witnesses and ask anyone with information to come forward.
