A scary overnight abduction and sex assault on a young girl in Surry has RCMP issuing a warning to that community.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. Surrey RCMP received a report from a frantic mother who stated her sleeping nine year old daughter had been abducted from her bedroom. The young girl was sexually assaulted and left alone in a nearby yard. Police arrived at the home and learned that the nine year old girl was lured out of her open bedroom window by an unknown male.

The man took the girl to a nearby park where she was allegedly sexually assaulted and then was taken to a yard of a neighbourhood home and told by the suspect to stay there while he fled. Moments later the girl fled to her residence and sought help from her mother.

Surrey RCMP Special Victims Unit is conducting the investigation with the assistance of Lower Mainland District Forensic Identification Section and additional investigative units.  Police will be at the scene and throughout the neighbourhood for the balance of this day and likely tomorrow knocking on doors looking to identify anyone that may have seen something out of the ordinary overnight.

Police are asking Surrey residence to ensure their windows are secured especially ground floor windows.  The suspect is still at large and no description has been released.
