The results are in, and B.C.'s biggest airport has been named the least frustrating in all of North America.

Bloomberg Businessweek's new Airport Frustration Index has put Vancouver International Airport at the top of its list for being less frustrating than North America's other major airports. The index gave a frustration score from 0 (least frustrating) to 100 (most frustrating) to 36 different airports, with YVR getting an overall score of 17.6.

The index broke down the frustration that travellers must face with each airport into three different categories: commute, time at the terminal, and departures. Commute was measured through average rush-hour driving times from city centres, as well as travel by public transportation. This was Vancouver's worst category, making 22 out of 36 airports.

YVR placed better, however, in the two other categories. For time at the terminal, Bloomberg Businessweek asked flyers to rate the pleasantness of their time at the airport, looking at security, comfortable seats at the gates, cleanliness of washrooms, and quality of restaurants/shopping. Vancouver International Airport topped the list with a 7.6 for security, 8.2 for washrooms, and 6.8 for shopping. The last category was whether departures were on time, and Vancouver International placed second thanks to approximately 85 per cent of their flights making it out when scheduled.

Canadian airports were all over the list, with Calgary International placing 4th and Ottawa International placing 8th for least frustrating. Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau placed 20th, and Toronto Pearson was right near the bottom at 30th out of 36 airports, making it the 7th most frustrating airport in North America.

YVR has been doing well this year, also with getting third place for best washroom in Canada and fifth place for best airport to sleep in.
