Soldier Killed in Ottawa Identified

The soldier killed at the War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday morning has been identified as Corporal Nathan Cirillo.

Cirillo, 24, was identified to the media through a family member and already a Facebook memorial page and crowd funding campaign has been started for this family. Cirillo as a reservist in Hamilton with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Association. His identity has yet to be official confirmed by Ottawa police but an outpouring of support from friends can already be seen on social media.

The suspected shooter’s identity has been leaked to the media as well, a man in his early 30s named Michael Zehef-Bibeau. Ottawa police and the RCMP continue to investigate and assess the situation and a partial lock down is still in effect for parts of the city.
