Police in the U.S. are advising people to remove the popular family sticker decals from their car windows, because they may be attracting criminals.
The logic behind it is that the stickers provide offenders with information about families that could help them to more easily target yours. They could provide offenders with information such as how many children you have, whether or not you have a substantial guard dog, or what your children’s extracurricular activities are.
Even stickers that tell what your family likes to do, such as skiing or certain sports can lead offenders to assume what time of day and what time of the year your family is likely to be away from home, putting you at greater risk for a break-in.
Ohio Search and Rescue posted a Facebook image of how a criminal could source information about your family from decals and bumper stickers.

Police and even some manufacturing companies that make the stickers are now advising against putting the stickers on vehicles, while others argue that the advisory is overly precautious.
