A not so new trend is gaining momentum in BC as a Vancouver based special boutique offers a new type of wellness for people.
Intravenous Vitamin Therapy has been a celebrity trend with the likes of Madonna, Rihanna and Cindy Crawford using it for the past year, but only recently has it become more mainstream.

In Vancouver the IV Wellness Boutique offers residents the city’s first direct dose of vitamins and minerals to help perk them up. Located in Yaletown the Boutique looks like any other beauty space but it is much different. The storefront showcases people hooked up to the IV drips, enjoying themselves as they recharge while lounging and listening to relaxing tunes.
“IV therapy can literally make you feel better right away,” says Dr. Heidi Rootes, IV Vitamin Boutique business partner. “Not only that, we can custom create each IV drip, depending on what the client needs and wants. Our most popular treatments are for energy, sports enhancement or recovery, weight control and anti-aging.”

The IV Wellness Boutique has been around for about three months now and it seems there is no short supply of people coming in to “drip.” There are many reasons people are heading to the trendy boutique, not just to cure their hangover. The drip claims to treat many different conditions including fatigue, chronic depression, migraine headaches, respiratory problems and more.
There are a few places in Kelowna that offer the treatment, but not in the trendy and stylized way like the Yaletown location. And IV Vitamin and Mineral Therapy doesn’t come cheap. The average session can run you anywhere from $100-$200 dollars and can take up to an hour to receive.

The drip was famously called the “party girl drip” by singer Rihanna when she tweeted a photo of herself receiving it and the trend has been gaining momentum ever since.
