It's getting to be that time. University students are going back to school, even if the younger ones might not yet, and we've compiled some of the best deals for all those students trying to get by (and have fun) on student loans.

Shaw

Students need internet nearly every five minutes in university, whether it's checking out databases, books, or someone else's Facebook status. To accommodate this, Shaw offers 8 month internet deals from $20/month, and it comes with 3 free months of music from Rdio to get students in the studying mood.

Fitness

To combat the dreaded Freshman 15, students may want to check out local fitness centres. Many yoga studios and gyms in Kelowna offer student discounts for drop-in classes, punchcards, or memberships. Some include Karma Yoga, H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre (though it's technically a young adult/student dicount), Bikram Yoga, and BodyFit Keowna.

Apple Products

The amount of plug-ins in UBCO's library shows how many students use their laptops all day. With Apple's education pricing, anyone who proves their student status can receive discounts on Macbooks and iMacs at most technology stores in Kelowna.

Greyhound

Those students may not have left home yet, but if they're in their first year, their parents will probably miss them already. Thankfully for all empty nest parents (and homesick students), Greyhound offers new, lower student fares for Western Canada so that students can get home in time for turkey on Thanksgiving.

Big White

Many students come to Kelowna for year-round recreation, and what spot is more popular than Big White? If you're 19 or older, a full-time student, and looking to get some powder this weekend, look at the $479 early bird special before October 19, compared to $699 for anyone else 19-64. Even if you're late on that, it's $879 for the season when you buy after October 19, compared to $1,139.

StudentSaver Card Specials

All college and university students can receive StudentSaver cards from their student union, giving them deals across Canada. Here are a couple local highlights:

Downtown Restaurants

There are too many even to name here, but for all the students living and frequenting downtown, check out these deals. Maki Sushi, Beijing Bina Cooking House, Pheasant & Quail Pub and more all have deals, usually about 10% off. Definitely a great option for some cheaper nights off studying.

Mosaic Books

While readings for class might not always get done, any English major will know that you can never have too many books. With a StudentSaver card, students get 10% off new and bargain books, plus 10% off book orders. A good option, especially for some of those textbooks.

Kal-Tire

For all those students who struggled to get their parking passes, Kal-Tire offers 10% off all mechanical and labour, as well as 10% off purchases. They'll need winter tires on eventually, even if the sun's shining now.

SPC Card

Students are eligible to sign up for the SPC Card, which gives them discounts on stores and restaurants across the country. Hit the mall with this and get approximately 10% off at stores like American Eagle, Payless ShoeSource, Sport Chek, and The Body Shop.
