A Pizza Hut store in Australia is in a heap of trouble after running an unapproved promotion that offered free animals with a purchase.

The Pets for Pizza campaign took place in Mt Waverley, Victoria and worked in conjunction with a neighbouring pet store. If customers purchased 10 large pizzas they would receive a free small animal. The group Oscar’s Law, an organization that looks to abolish factory farming of animals, alerted Pizza Hut to the promotion and the company took swift action.

On the official Pizza Hut Facebook page a statement was issued saying the company was dealing with the promotion and action taken. Pizza Hut says no animals were given out during the duration of the promotion. “On behalf of Pizza Hut Australia we once again apologise for this thoughtless promotion ever occurring and would like to reassure you all that this matter is being seriously dealt with,” said the company.

Many people on social media are now calling for the company to make a donation to Oscar’s Law to rectify the situation and help animals in need.
