A social network for the very rich has been launched and it costs a massive amount of money just to become a member.

The Netropolitan Club is being called a ‘country club’ for affluent and accomplished individuals. For a cost of $9,000 in first year fees members will have the opportunity to “meet like-minded individuals from across the globe who share your lifestyle and interests.” Annual dues are $3,000 a year and the network which is like Facebook for the rich works much differently.

The site is private and inaccessible from the public internet including search engines such as Google. All member transmissions are encrypted and the website is completely advertisement free. Instead of adding friends members can follow others to keep up to date with what is going on.

A disclaimer on the website tells members that Netropolitan is not a concierge service so there is no one to book a private jet for you or find sold out tickets to a Broadway show. Members must be at least 21 years of age or older to join, and they cannot take screen shots of any of the services or club and distribute them to non-members.

Memberships for the website have officially opened and it is being called "Netropolitan: The online country club for people with more money than time."
