A Cape Breton seafood restaurant is coming under fire for putting a ban on screaming children at the restaurant.
The Lobster Pound and Moore took to Facebook to say that screaming children would no longer be allowed in the restaurant as they are a distraction and inconvenience to other diners. Immediately parents took to social media to blast the restaurant for denying the tiny diners. A barrage of hate and threats flooded the Facebook page and owner again took to the page to apologize to customers.
“First, my apologies for my previous post. I chose the wrong words to convey a message I didn't want. I love kids and would have them if I could. I shouldn’t have used the word screaming but should have said something like "Lil diners having a moment". I've tried cheering upset kids with carved fruit and treats but those items aren't always on hand and I will do better. We will take any belly that is hungry,” reads the post.
The apology has been met with both criticism and praise, with many people actually defending the business’s actions saying they support child free dining.
“I should have thought it out a lot better and I know I've lost some of you. I can't take it back but I can try again. Special needs? No problem. Let us know so we can plan. We understand first hand conditions such as autism. I never considered the hate and threats it would bring against not only me but those I love and for that I'm truly sorry. I know some may find this silly but I love cape Breton and moved home to give back. I've disappointed you and myself. I will do better even if you don't give me the chance. I was trying to be different and the "go to" happening place.”
The Lobster Pound and Moore isn’t the only Cape Breton restaurant to ban children as the Old Fisherman’s Grotto implemented a no child policy in 2011.

“By giving them an alternative place to eat on Fisherman’s Wharf that has a quiet atmosphere,” said the Grotto.
